Processing/Pricing

Scour/Wash ONLY

$12/lb. (includes pre-wash picking to separate fibers for
a more thorough wash)

No minimum weight requirement, however,
there is a 2 lbs. min. charge per fleece.
All charges based on incoming weight.

The scouring process may include a pre-soak, two washes, then two rinses along with water extraction — no agitation — to remove dirt and lanolin/oils. Depending on dirt and oils, there may be another wash. (Note: washing will not take out straw, burs, chip, or vegetable matter.)

*NOTE: extra processing steps will incur additional charges – such as extra washes due to heavy lanolin, or extra time picking through the fiber due to excess VM.

If you bring in fiber that has been washed, we will do a test wash and may need to rewash to remove all residue, in which case there will be an additional charge of $12/lb.

We use Power Scour because it is environmentally friendly, protects our animals and reduces residue in the fiber.

Make sure your fleeces are well skirted,
or we can skirt for you at $25/hour.

Carding

$27/lb. — Sheep
$28/lb. — Alpaca, Llama, other fine fiber fleece $30/lb. — Suri
$30/lb. — Core Spun

Roving (approx. 1 inch dia.) loose in a bag or wound into
a log-shaped “bump.” Bumps vary in weight
depending on the fiber, and may be as large as 16 oz.

Batts will vary in weight and thickness but may be approximately 20″ X 48″

Clouds are just as the name infers, a soft fluffy cloud of fiber.

If the fleeces are multi-colored, we can separate the colors prior to processing at an additional cost of $15/fleece.

Sheep and alpaca can be blended with other fibers that you supply, and we can suggest blends and fiber ratios.

Blending

We have alpaca, natural colors that can be used to blend with your fiber. The cost for alpaca for blending ranges from $4 – $6 per oz depending on the quality and color chosen. Alpaca colors available are white, black, dark brown, rose grey, silver grey, and fawn.

We also have some wools to use for blending
in limited natural colors.

If you bring in other fibers to use for blending, there is a $4/lb blending fee.

Our standard bump is 80 – 85 yards with weight varying depending on fiber type.

We kindly ask that fleeces be free of heavy matting and excessive VM (that’s veggie matter like hay, burrs, and straw). These can slow down processing and make it tough to showcase the magic of wool transformation. Not sure if your fleece is ready? Reach out—we love talking wool!
